Founder Rob Worthington-Smith was an early adopter of the movement to integrate sustainability reporting with annual reporting, thereby holding companies more accountable for their business dealings. Rob won the EY Best Report in 2010 and 2011 for his reporting for the Bidvest Group (JSE:BVT), a company employing over 120,000 people across multiple sectors of the economy.

FarSight was born in 2012 when Rob developed a model for rating intrinsic company value, based on guidelines developed by the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC). FarSight has won the Financial Mail Best Analyst Award (in the ESG category) for its leadership quality research every year since 2018 (six years).
